Research

Zander's research interest is at the moment in what ways the Holocaust was presented and represented in the Scandinavian countries and in Great Britain 1945–2005. He is also studying the images of heroes in literature, monuments, movies and television during the 20th century with Charles XII and Raoul Wallenberg as examples.   

Biography

Ulf Zander is Associate Professor and postdoctoral fellow in history at Lund University and Senior Lecturer at the School of Education and Communication in Jönköping. His doctoral thesis from 2001 was on uses of and debates concerning Swedish history from late 19th century to early 21st century. He has also written Clio på bio, a book about American film, history and identity (2006) and is co-editor for a number of anthologies, among them Historien är nu. En introduktion till historiedidaktiken (2004), Echoes of the Holocaust. Historical Cultures in Contemporary Europe (2003), Holocaust Heritage. Inquires into European Historical Cultures (2004), The Holocaust – Post-War Battlefields. Genocide as Historical Culture (2006) och Historia mot strömmen. Kultur och konflikt i det moderna Europa (2007). Zander was editor of Scandia, one of the leading Academic journals in Sweden, 2003–05.
